Welcome to listovore
The purpose of listovore is to provide a UI very similar to a social network, letting you post ideas to yourself as they happen and sort them later. I have been looking at all the content I created on social networks for over a decade and I feel it is silly that it is impossible to find anything again. The sum of all this content should lead something greater than only the conversation it came up in.
The tool we're building revolves around the idea of cards. When you have an idea, you write it down on a card and drop it on the top of your stack. It may become useful later, or not, it doesn't matter, it's like taking a photo (a photo can become a card, btw). The real power of listovore is that it lets you reorganize the cards in however many lists you want. Make selections, reorder them, incrementally improve your content.
A card is meant to be a small "information element". It is a bit like a postcard, it has text, it has a time, it (optionally) has a photo, it (optionally) has a geolocation. A useful special case is that a card created from a simple URL, will automatically gather Open Graph information.
The powerful thing is that any card can be the parent of a list (of many lists, actually), this naturally leads to tree structures without any effort. Yet, don't mistake this for a file system: listovore is not like a filesystem. It is a Directed Graph where everything can point to everything else... So, yes, it can be a mess. That's actually the point: start with a messy heap of random ideas and, through a process akin to distillation, surface what matters and let a structure emerge !
Oh, and one more thing: of course, you can share your cards with others! Yes, of course, people can collect your cards and you can collect theirs. Yes, you can add someone else's cards in your own lists... Do you see how powerful this can be ?
Please bear with us while this site is being assembled.
